Jan 31, 2019 – SCG is one of Thailand’s largest corporations, and its annual leadership forum features industry leaders addressing the themes that matter in the region.  At SCG Leadership Forum 2019, Sea’s Group Chief Economist, Dr Santitarn Sathirathai highlighted the growth opportunity in the region, and how Shopee’s focus on deep localization, SME empowerment, and experiential e-commerce are crucial in unlocking that opportunity. E-commerce in Southeast Asia currently accounts for only 1.6% of the total retail market, compared to 20% in China and 9% in US, according to Dr Santitarn.
